I want to be known as an actor and not a comic says Kunaal Roy Kapur
Kunaal Roy Kapur, who is currently busy promoting his upcoming film ‘The Final Exit’ was present at the Trailer launch of the film. During media interaction the actor said, he wants to be known as an actor and not a comic.
Kapur was asked if this change in avatar and genre is intentional, “Absolutely I think you don’t want to be known for only one role in your life, I don’t want to be known as a comic, I want to be known as an actor who can do comedy, drama, thrillers, and I will be making the effort that is needed on my part to make that transformation may it be physical or mental. And this film is one of my efforts to break out of the comedy image.”
He further adds, “Family is very excited for my new look, my wife and my kids are excited to see this new person in front of them. It makes me think I should maintain this image and move forward. People are used to seeing me in comedy avatars, now this is going to be a surprise to people. Casting me in a serious role was a big challenge and I welcome challenges. As an actor to break out of the comedy mold is something refreshing and challenges which is why I took the opportunity with open hands.”
With CBFC Chief’s being replaced to Prasoon Joshi, will ‘The Final Exit’ pass through the board without any cuts, when asked to comment on the same Kunaal said, “Hopefully it will change in the right direction and I am sure Prasoon Joshi has a vision for censorship and the certification that is necessary for the country. Everything is now available on the internet without censorship so the importance of censorship is slowly decreasing. There is certain content that we don’t want our kids to see which needs certification but it should not hamper the voice of the artist. I think censorship is contradictory to our fundamental right to speech and expression so I don’t stand by it.”
When asked about Vidya joining the Borad and her upcoming film 'Tumhari Sulu', Kunaal said, "If she is happy, I am happy for her. As for Tumhari Sulu, the poster is very exciting and I cant wait to see the teaser."
Kunaal was last seen in ‘Azhar’ directed by Tony D’Souza, co starring Emraan Hashmi and Nargis Fakhri.
The Final Exit directed by Shwanil Mehta and co produced by Mrunal Jhaveri and Vishal Rana, casts, Kunaal Roy Kapur, Archana Shastry, Elena Kazan, Reyhna Malhotra and Scarlett Wilson.
The film is a suspence thriller where Kunaal will play a photographer who encounters the supernatural beings. Presented by Carnival Motion Pictures, it is scheduled to release on 22nd September 2017.
